If you planned it right and had a small garden tractor with attachments, it would be a lot easier than doing everything by hand. Weeds and grass in your plot can get out of hand REAL fast.
Dad always put down cardboard and let his plants grow up through it (put the cardboard around them and all over the garden) and watered that. It also helped to keep the ground from getting to dry and wasn't any weeds to speak of. PLUS you can just till it under after the growing season.

So how has Patty been? I've only been checking in here every so often. Oh, good and bad. She is dealing with severely impacted bowel now and possibly a biopsy in a few months on three "Nodules" on her Thyroid.

Classes would be neat, but if you're cheap like we are just cruise the internet for gardens, victory gardens, truck gardens... stuff like that. You could also check out some prepper sites for information. OR if there are any Mennonites or Amish around that you could get friendly with. Oh and doesn't your wife work with native Americans?

I saw online how people use chickens In their farming, they have a coop set up in the middle of two plots of land, the chickens are allowed to use one side as their run, while you grow on the other side. After you harvest, you allow the chickens onto the other side, and they will add nitrogen and nutrients and weed that side, while you plant the other side. Pretty cool I though. My mom has 25 chickens now, and 3 ducks ( 2 female one male) ( soon to have more as she is letting them sit on their eggs)

She does, but down here, they ( the seminoles) are about as separated from the land as anyone. To much money from the casinos, I can't get into some of the stuff she tells me about their benefits and payouts, but it's pretty crazy

That sounds like a pretty good idea. Never heard of doing chickens that way before, but it makes sense. You could also use Guineas, but I don't know what they taste like. You see a lot of folks around here with Guineas running loose.

But yeah, for full scale organic home gardening, the Internet may be a better option than classes, but I haven't looked into it much. I'd love to go out to some of the surrounding areas ( up around lake okeechobee) and learn/ work at one of those farms, but it's just a time issue

You see a lot of folks around here with Guineas running loose. That has to be quite the sight! They just kind of flock around like chickens and tend to stay fairly close to where you start out feeding them and you just keep feeding them enough to keep them around. The rest of the time they just free range feed.
