They're building us a whole new facility. Some federal grant. It's several million dollars.

It's funny how those that have been in there know how hectic it can be, and they appreciate good dispatchers. Those that haven't really take us for granted.

Should be a nice place.

OH GREAT, sounds like they plan on downsizing.

We currently have 6 per shift (county wide) with four rotating shifts. Plus part timers at EMS that work the busy evening hours. So 24 full time dispatchers and 5-6 part timers. They're saying that we're gonna have 18 full timers and 7-8 part timers.

I don't see how, because 911 says we have to be staffed for the heaviest average call volumes 24 hours a day. Even if things are quiet during the night, we have to be staffed to handle the highest average amount of calls.

I'm not too worried, because there are several of them over there that can't pass Sheriff Standards to gain access to DCI/NCIC.

But still, it makes me nervous having to re-apply.

I'm already starting on my F3, which is the standard background check form for North Carolina.

I hear Ya. Just the stress of "What if" can be a pain.

The F3 is only about 12-15 pages long, and it has to be perfect. Your answers have to match any prior F3 perfectly. So I'm getting a copy of my old one from our office to go off of.

I guess they just don't bother with me any more. I've been here through three different "Overhauls" of the statewide computer system.
