It came in yesterday. The Rodent 6 has to be one of the beefiest combat knives I have seen. You ain't gonna break this one. It reminds me of the old M6, which is also a tank of a knife. With a 6 3/8" long blade of SR101 (52-100) 1/4" thick, it has a lot of heft to it. Balance point is right on the double guard, so it is just slightly blade heavy in the hand. It can do light chopping. The contoured handle fits my big paws just right, much like the Ratmandu does. It won't be coming loose, even with some pounding, as the micarta scales are attached with steel tubes flared against the scales, as Busse Combat knives are constructed.

The Rodent 6 makes nice addition to my other Swamp Rats. I got lucky, as I actually have 3 sheaths that will fit it, a Spec-Ops, a generic cordura, and an Armorall leather one made for the ASH-1.

As you can see, the knives are about the same size, although mine is the skinny version.

Here is the Rodent 6 along side some of my other slab sided combat knives, Ranger RD-6, ESEE-6, and the ASH1.

Next up, lets beat this rodent.

The knife came with a decent, if slightly obtuse edge. I'm sure Alex sharpened it as instructed. The edge is even and perfectly done. It will chop and even make fuzz sticks out of the box.

Naturally, for you baton fans, I had to split some wood with it.

All in all, I'd say this is one rugged field knife that would serve any soldier or outdoorsman well.

Yeah, beat that thing!
Thanks for the comparison pics!
The R6 truly is a beast. If I had the funds, I would get one. But I have something else on the way that will give the R6 a run for its money. Pics when I get it...

Nice review, especially the pics. I like the way it fits the Spec Ops without a lot of fussing around.

Glad you like it and thanks or the post with photos.

I have yet to use mine and really have been considering letting it go.

If liners were added to thicken the handle a bit, maybe I'd like it more. Very personal opinion. Overall it's a quality tool.

And the way it fits into the small Spec Ops Combat Master is a huge bonus for fans of that sheath.

Nice. I didn't realize it was so much larger than the RMD.

That is one stout blade. Thanks.

I don't understand why we have the right to arm bears, but not dogs... weird.

The Rodent reminds me of my old ESEE-5, which was also overbuilt. It seems that that type of "sharpened prybar" knife is popular with the troops, as they use them for a lot more than just cutting tools. For my hikes and such, a Buck 119 from Wal-Mart is plenty of belt knife. The Rodent 6 is a combat knife made to withstand all manner of abuse that most of us will never see. If I were a young man in a combat or survival situation, it would be comforting to have such a tool.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.
