Thanks SY66. I had seen one pic of them side by side, but yours show how similar they really are.

I'm looking for a general camp/survival/end of the world knife.

Go for the 711 or 911, then pair it with something smaller like the 311 or Mud puppy. Unless you plan on doing a lot of log chopping(say 6 inch diameter or larger) stay with the 711. It will be easier to carry and the smaller blade will be your clean what you kill blade. Oh and don't forget to include a GOOD DIAMOND sharpener.

YW Mike. My recommendation would be the 711 all the way. It's an affordable, extremely comfortable workhorse of a knife. If you paired it with a 311 or a scrap muk I think you would have all the bases covered for whatever your needs. I'm addicted tho so this is what my Busse/kin collection is at the moment (I have a S5LE not in the pic) and I'm waiting on 2 more knives (911 and 1311). Good luck only buying 1 or 2 knives. I've only been around Busse/kin for a couple months and started with a 511 which I love for an all arounder but it's not really big enough to chop with.

Ok, here's another confusing post. Unless you are going to build a house go with the 711, paired with a smaller blade (311 or something comparable). THEN get a third, either the Wardog or and S5 for a medium size blade.

These three will give you the ability do "Do it all" in a survival situation. You could piggyback the 711 and 311 and keep the S5/Wardog (or similar size blade) ON YOU PERSON AT ALL TIMES, along with your DIAMOND sharperner).

Thanx Jeff I am totally addicted Skunk all my info is based on knives that I actually own with exception of the scrap muk, which I take on good faith based on info I've received from actual owners in this forum that it is an excellent knife for food prep and processing game. Mike was asking for a comparison of the 711 and R6 and I was tryin to stick to what he asked for. I just posted up the pic of my collection to show Mike what he's in for. I started with the 511 and it escalated rather quickly from there. I joined the forum on 7/29 and these knives I've acquired since then. So barely over a month and I've purchased 9 more knives and have 2 more on order. I think it's time to admit defeat and join Rehab

Welcome to the madness!
In my humble opinion they are both different animals. For me 711 is a great camping/woods knife provided you have something smaller for finer tasks, say Scrapivore.
R6 is a bit better balanced, with the full tang, and could do in a pinch as a one only knife. When you get it in your hand you'll feel that it is not a 'combat' knife.
If you wanted more versatility at a somehow higher budget go with 911 & R4. Don't think there's anything those two could not handle! (aside from sea water...)
Just my 2 cents...

The Rodent 6 looks nice, but if I was limited to only one knife it would be the 7-11.
