My birthday was yesterday, and my girlfriend exceeded in being a great girlfriend.
She gifted me a DPX H.E.S.T fixed blade, ande it rocks!

So I thought I would post some comparison pics of it, and some other small ones.

First off; my collection of sub 4.5" blades (well most of them)

The DPX H.E.S.T alongside my 311.
The DPX is more versatile, but the 311 has the stronger construction. The DPX tang is skeleton when the scales come off.
The DPX is from 1095 steel.
The 311 SR 101 of course.

In a pinch, I would go with the DPX

Extrema Ratio Shrapnel OG Desert, Benchmade Nimravus Tanto and the Rodent 4
The Shrapnel is built like a tank! Steel N690. I do have difficulty getting it hair popping sharp.

The Nimravus is more nimble. Only 2/16" thick. Made from 154c, with a HRC of 58-61. Great balance!

The Rodent 4 is a favorite of mine. I know the handle makes it somewhat of a black sheep, but I like it.

If the S##T hit the fan; the Rodent 4 would be my companion!

TOPS Sky Marshall HP. Even more of a tank than the Shrapnel, and completely overbuilt! But AWESOME! Made from .25" thick 1095 steel. Length is only 4.5". This knife will never break. Yet the grind is totally unpractical.

Strider Buck 888. ATS-34 steel. Can't find much info on it, but I love it. 3/16" thick and a hollow grind. This may weaken the blade, but the Paul Bos heat treat is supposedly outstanding.

The Yard Keeper. My "go to" use and abuse knife. SR 77 steel, which makes it tough as heck. The full flat grind, 3/16" thick blade(stripped) works wonders, and the small choil fits my fire steel perfectly.

When Doomsday come, I would bring the Yard Keeper, of the three.

Thanks guys!

I have not gone for the 411, yet. Resent knife purchases has exceeded my budget, so untill those knives arrive, I am laying low...
But it sure is tempting!

Thanks for taking the time to put this all together Rasmus. There's a lot of good info here and it's nice to get someone's opinion about these knives. I've looked at some of these knives at one point or another. I've been interested in the HEST for awhile. I used to own a 2.0 folder and they are a heck of a knife. Good job mate

Nice collection. good comparison shots. I'm really digging the Extrema Ratio. that is a good looking blade and I love me some Bohler n690.

JYD# 165 I love hard use knives. in all steels, sizes, and shapes.

SY66 and Grunt; thanks and you are welcome.

Both the HEST and the Extrema Ratio are some solid knives!
The HEST has quick become one of my favorites.

However, none of the above can make me steer away from the Yard as my #1 supplier of steel.

Some nice blades there. I want a HEST but need to get my 1st Gen folder sent off and fixed. Until then I will continue carrying my Vex or MPLE until the 411 comes along.

Thanks for sharing the collection there!
