I have a SOD, and it does everything quite well and is a brute of a destroy a Buick knife. But I am questing for something just a tad lighter. I don't need to dismantle any Buicks.

I don't think one can go wrong with either.

Me neither. I am wanting to get a 711 but after the 1311 I'm hesitant to spend the bucks. Not sure what I want to do. Dump the SOD and My Wardog HACK or keep them or just keep the HACK.

There was a War Dog HACK at the last Knob Creek I attended. Almost bought it twice, but after picking up a pair of SOS knives and dropping over a grand on them, I decided not to get the WD HACK.

711 is a great campsite tool.

I haven't used the WD HACK for cutting anything but air. It is a nice knife, right size and light weight and with the Deep hollow grind it will be a whale of a slicer and would make a fair fighter as well. I have thought about carrying it but then I have the regular WarDog so I have been using that instead, not that I use my knives all that hard.

I use my War Dog. Like it a lot. The new ScrapMax knives are the skinny stainless knives that make me not regret passing on the HACK.

The 711 is an awesome campknife! And the SR101 just amazes me every time I use it! Stays paper cuttingsharp, even after chopping up several logs of wood.
I would choose SR101 over SR77. Designwise, they are not worlds apart. Apart from the thickness...

I bought a dog father over a 911, because I wanted sr 77, and a thicker blade. It is a personal decision, but I think what skunk hunter said is right,if you don't need it to dismantle buicks, the 711 will do the trick.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I'll probably end up getting both anyway and releasing the one I'm least fond of. I'm leaning more toward the SOD because its most like a Scrap Yard Ratweiler.

I have both, and the SOD "feels" a lot better to me. For the sorts of tasks I'd handle with a 7.5" knife..I also prefer SR77 over SR101.
