I figure since the 1311 is going to be such a beast, it's not really practical for someone my size to carry it around the leg. So...I got to thinking about an over-the shoulder sheath. I've done a little bit of research so far, but come up pretty much blank. I know there are custom makers out there who will happily whip something up provided they receive lots of money, but I really don't want to spend the cost of the knife (or more) again on a sheath alone.

I'm not opposed to jury-rigging some existing products if it means saving a pile of money. I was thinking of possibly trying to add straps of some sort to this Mora sheath (if memory serves, someone brought it up in a thread here a little while ago) or something similar.
Mora 331 Leather Sheath
EDIT: I should clarify that I would ideally like to have a setup that places it diagonally between my shoulder blades, sort of like what you see in the movies, as corny as that sounds. XD

That seems like one of the best bets so far, but I would be incredibly grateful if you guys could think of some alternative methods to save me some money. Can't wait till the 1311s start rolling in.

Google search a baldric setup. You will get more then enough ideas.

I also think most will be carrying this accross the back or on a backpack.

I am going a different route, IWB for me

Thank you very much.

IWB for what is essentially a very thick, short machete? Rock on.

Rasmus, IWB stands for Inside Waist Band (concealed carry).

I'm thinking a baldric rig as well, maybe a strap attached at the top and bottom so it can be worn across the back, or relocated to both ends at the top for a regular over the shoulder rig.

I will be rocking it baldric set up also but I'm going with it under the offside arm but with the option of going more backpack style if need be.

I carry a 14 inch machete in a drop sheath that is strapped to my right leg. It gets too hot to have much of anything on your back here.
