Just got my first Scrap Yard knife and had to post my impressions. The satin finish is not as good as on a Busse but you know what, I don't care. This is a cheaper knife and with a name like Scrap Yard knives I think it fits the bill. I am impressed with the heft and balance of this knife and after reading up on the steel, I have no doubt it can take and give a good beating. The weight and thickness surprised me even though I knew the specs. I've loved the resoprene handles ever since my Howling Rat, missed out by a week on the Camp Tramps so now I wait patiently for the Scrap Yard bowie. They've got me hooked.

Hi book'em, I got the regular S6 with penetrator tip. The PT grind isn't that perfect..but I don't care also You're right about the feel of it. My sentiments exactly on the camp tramp I was taking my sweet time. Never thought they'd discontinue that thing. Can't wait for the bowie either, and the rest of what's coming

I guess they made the more recent ones with them and the first ones without the PT. I didn't exactly ask for it when I ordered (not that I'm complaining), but the knife came with it anyway. And since I don't have a scrapper w/o the PT, I want one!

Hey Blondie! So who else has the PT? Or does every S6 that comes out now have it?
Nice sheath by the way (on that other thread)!

Morning y'all, thought I'd contribute my first post in here since I too just received my LE. I'm pretty impressed with it so far, just wish I hadn't trimmed my palm fronds earlier in the week, it would've been a great first test for it. Guess any testing is going to have to wait a bit. I was definitely pleasantly suprised by the handle, wasn't expecting to really like it, but it turned out to be pretty comfortable and looks like it should hold up pretty good. Overall, without any use yet, it looks to be a real bargain for the money.

BurkStar, Welcome, glad to see another new fan of the Scrap Yard. The Scrapper LE is quite a piece of steel! Mine is not as sharp as I would like but I got a new strop from Lee Valley Tools so I am looking forward to putting a hair popping edge on it this weekend. I tape sandpaper on one side and the other is loaded with the green compound. It has worked for me on other convex edges so far.

Burkstar I think the handle is what really sets these knives apart from everybody elses (apart from that awesome warranty). For the money these are very hard to beat... Book'em- what's green compound? Not heard of it over here... I'm assuming it's a gentle abrasive?

I'm assuming it's a gentle abrasive? Yes. It's a very fine compound for stropping with to polish the edge and remove the finest nicks. Here's a page I found real quick on grits: 3M Abrasives

I just got my LE today. It's a great addition to the Busse family of knives.
Mines getting a rough and ready looking leather sheath soon. A black one. I'll get pics up when it's done.

Nice sheath by the way (on that other thread)! It looks like you and I are the only proud owners of PT Scrapper6s. Cool, huh?
