I've studied a Japanese art that I like a lot and is pretty well-rounded. Of course, as already stated, no art is perfect. The thing I like about mine is that it does a little bit of everything, Strikes, Throws, Joint-locks, and weapons. I think the weapons are fun. I feel like a kid again swinging the swords around <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I've heard of systema and done some research on it. It's really cool. I've heard that it is based on some Japanese arts, but also a lot on cosak dancing. There was one video on youtube that showed the dancing part. It was cool cuz they were dancing and singing and then the host went to punch one of them and the dancing guy took him down. HA!

Cut a rug and take a guy out of the picture...not sure if it will catch on like disco or line dancing ...but it could be a lot of fun LOL

I had not heard of Systema....sounds great.

I was in martial arts for a number of years when I was a teenager. I enrolled my son in MMA which is a mix of Krav Maga, Muay Thai, Judo and some Karate thrown in for good measure. WOW am I impressed with what he has learned. I will have to check into Systema.

Thanks
Dan
I think MMA is the way to go. That's great to hear that he is learning a lot! It seems hard to find a Systema trainer, but if you can find one I would definitely recommend that you sign your son up. Having the MMA training will definitely put him at the top of the curve.
