Well I finally did it, I broke my first yard knife after many years. This one probably had a bubble in the metal, it broke right out of the box. I'll have to contact Renee about this one. Other than that all my other knives I've even gone through concrete by accident. It was time I got my first one with a flaw in the material. Can't really control what you get when you get your material from another vendor. Quality of the knife is awesome,it even gave me a little bite from the razor sharp edge when shaving some hairs.

Wow.

All the time I've spent lurking and then as a member, this is the first time (other than destruction tests) that I've heard of one these blades "breaking".

Please send the knife back and we will replace it. I am sorry for the trouble...some things just happen, but this is why we have such a strong warranty

Thanks dan, can you email me where you want me to send it, this is why I have a boat load of your knives, I understand there will be defects. You should see the abuse the others have been through and worked flawlessly. This one is clearly a bad batch of material.
Thanks,
Mark

Dans on it and at least if it was a do or die situation it was still usable for the most part.

I appreciate the offer of the firewood but that will not be needed <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Send the knife to ScrapYard Knife Co, 11651 County Rd# 12 Wauseon Ohio 43567, Attn: Dan Busse

Hahaha,I'd like to but I know Dan has plenty of things to chop up there , but the offer still stands. I thought many years ago when I killed that snake on concrete with my dogfather would have chipped the blade but it destroyed the concrete instead. This one definitely had some metal anomalies from the vendor Dan gets his stock from. Must have been a Friday at the vendors plant.

That's too bad about your new knife , but as you say I'm guessing it's a flaw in the blade stock from the supplier .

This is why my chopper of choise is a Dogfather and I'm on the hunt for a Scrapper 6 as my allrounder . It's because hearing of a Scrap Yard knife failing is so very rare that everyone is shocked . Not to mention the Scrap Yards great warrantee and Dan always being RIGHT on top of it "if" you ever need it .
