I'm sure folks have already been on it- but thought I would post anyway. As soul crushing as it's been the last two days having this tragedy unfold so close to home- wife just found out a friend lost her niece in this.

Having this happen so close is numbing. People at work were weeping, my co-worker does crisis work part time in that area and was called to work, our local reporters sound on the verge of tears, the anger, shock and hurt is palpable everywhere you go.

It's like an hour away from me, bit closer for Kenken and as a dad just hits me to the core. Ayyy these babies... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> I'm more spiritual than religious and I pray for these children and their families...

As a father of a 6 year old daughter i sat and watched the news for a hour and literally cried a bit thinking of those parents and kids. Truly one of the worst things I've seen other than 911. I still can't believe how any one could do that to anyone especially to kids that young and innocent.

So senseless. It's a tragedy that I can not imagine.

I think that we all feel the same way. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

It is about 30 minutes from me and I can not understand how people can do such a thing to anybody let along kids. I can only imagine what the parents/family/friends are going thru right now.

Yesterday was definitely a sad day for Connecticut.

It is such a senseless waste of innocent lives. My thoughts have been with all those families constantly since I heard about it.

We all need to come together and figure out a way to keep things like this from happening.

Education and reacting to early warning signs are highest on the list as far as I am concerned. It is the same story as with the Virginia Tech killings, I suspect it could have been avoided if people cared enough to react to those early signs with true compassion and proper medical help instead thinking its not their business.

Many more children die every year in this country despite local government, teachers and others being alerted to bad situations for weeks, months or years before something truly tragic happens. The mantra of "its not my problem" has gone too far.

"The mantra of "its not my problem" has gone too far."

This, I beleive is the heart of the problem. There's a lot of outcry right now, but will any action be taken? I think not, because "it's not MY problem".
