The pneumatic couplings will work for that. I just need to put a grove in the female side and a pin though the male side to stop them from twisting.

I mean when you were ready to take them apart? You would have to have some way to reach the female portion to pull the sleeve down.

I wouldn't hide the connections inside. I would leave them exposed.

OK, it would actually lengthen the stock then.

Yeah a stock with a 11.5 inch length of pull seemed rather short.

JJ great minds think alike. I have been eyeing this rifle, and a couple others as a pack rifle. If you go back and search last year posts somewhere I mentioned getting one since it is a quick, light and easy solution for always having a firearm that can be used for food and defense if need be. Since the son is about here I have not given it a lot of thought but this is what I plan on doing when I do get one.
Quick detach style screws for the action. I may have to make something but I don't want to rely on having a screwdriver handy. Large bolt head with a hole drilled through and maybe a roundel sling swivel added in for torquing.
Fiber optic sight, since it is fast and gathers light well.
Figure a swinging butt plate system so I can have access to ammo, a small fishing kit, and a small misch rod. Possibly a few aspring and band aids too.
That is about it, I like simple at times and with the rifle broken down it would not take long to get it out of the pack or off the side and put together.
I know I have an old single shot kid rifle that my papa bought me when I was little and it will be given to my son as I am not cutting on wood for an experiment. I can't tell you how many critters I have taken with that little rifle, I still use it today and it feels like an extension of my body--maybe because I learned to shoot with it and make every bullet fired count because I knew there was not a second chance. I have took everything from rabbit, squirrel, possum, armadillo, gopher, raccoon, cats, turtles, birds, and even a carp that was in the shallows (I don't recommend fishing with a rifle but the carps back was out of the water). You guys that don't have one get a single shot as they are fun, economical, and provide a lot of assurance when there is nothing else.

To answer your question. Nope. Can't cut it. Sure you can. It just requires one little stamp... JJ- Have you considered a QD scope setup on the Ruger 22/45? I recognize it's not as simple as a bolt, and "perhaps" not as accurate....but I bet it would be pretty darn close for all practical applications / needs. Food for thought.

I thought about mentioning a pistol. Then I remembered he has a suppressed one already.

I'm very confident with my buckmark out to about 35 yards.

I thought about mentioning a pistol. Then I remembered he has a suppressed one already. But it's not scoped. Maybe he wants to leave it in current config...and that's understandable too. I've been toying with the idea of adding another bolt 22lr to the arsenal. Granted, I don't have the same interests as JJ, so it's not really relevant to this thread...EXCEPT that, I find myself coming back to the 22/45 and wanting to scope it for a very lightweight, food getting machine. QD could make it extra fun <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
