I understand. It is not for me to judge him or anyone else. I'm sure he was a patriotic American serving his country. I never heard my grandfather brag about how many Germans he shot in WWI. I never heard my uncle Damon brag about how many Germans he killed in WWII. Both were infantry. My Dad was a bombardier in the Pacific. Who knows how many Japanese he killed? I understand a little about war myself. I bet every one of those Kyle killed thought they were defending their country against infidels and would go to heaven, too. I am just not comfortable glorifying killing, that's all. The people who start all these wars never are the ones who pay the price. I wish Chris Kyle and all who serve peace.

While I don't completely approve of him writing the book, I don't think its appropriate to make disrespectful comments about a person that served his country in the capacity that he did and was murdered while volunteering his time for such a noble cause.

His death was tragic. I don't fully understand what happened, but apparently he was trying to help PTSD sufferers. I still don't have much respect for glorifying killing. None of the heroes I knew ever did that. But as I said, it is not for me to judge him or anyone else. I just stated my opinion.

He shot and killed 160 people and bragged about it in a book.

I mourn the loss of a brother-in-arms, but I do not approve of that nor do any other service members I know. We can talk about the kills among ourselves, but it is never in a bragging manner and never in front of civilians much less in the media.

Jesse Ventura? Is that you?

I wondered what in the world that meant, so I looked it up. It appears that Ventura and Kyle had a disagreement in a bar....or maybe not. I respect both men. I lost a dear friend and member of Seal Team 2 in 2010. He suffered from PTSD. We became friends at the University of Georgia after our Viet Nam service. He committed suicide. I should have just kept my mouth shut about this whole tragedy. All Navy Seals did more than I ever did. God bless them all.

And he saved countless American soldiers lives by taking the fight to the enemy.
I didn't see it as bragging I thought he was just telling as it happened.

I feel the same way. His sniping work saved American lives, just as snipers did in VietNam. He is a true hero in my book! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

I see both sides if the aruement about talking about combat kills.
I look at it as yes soldiers have to take lives. But if it is not discussed with the population they serve then it becomes easier to send troops into battle because they haven't seen nor heard about the brutality that is warfare.

Here is an article that may give you a better perspective on Chris Kyle. He put pen to paper for a good cause.

He wasn't the opportunist some seem to believe he was. He was a darned good guy.
