I have a another week before spring break so I won't know anything until then about wood. I have been doing some reading and some guys just use wood from the Lowes but I want to try it from the very beginning.

Might look into making a self bow. Should be easier than a laminate and just as accurate/lethal if it's well made. That's actually a skill I'd like to learn. One piece of wood, a little shaping, and you can provide for your family.

Being the proud owner of one of SF's bows, I can attest to his fine craftsmanship

Why thanks DT but you must admit, the hand shock was bad. Once the daughter moves the car out I'll return to my quest for the perfect home bow, although I'll never master Fred Bear's vintage bows. I love them.
