I have decided to start a fund for this because there is a hole in the safe where one should be.
I want ghost ring sights and a pistol grip stock. I want or plan on adding a side saddle, and a extended mag tube. Also I hear they make great coyote guns from some guys that hunt them around here and I want to try it.

The mossburg guns aren't bad. But I don't like the safety

I like the Remington 870 platform but I don't like the quality of finish they have used in the past few years. And they don't have a good ghost ring sight.

I have taken a shining to the Benelli supernova because if the zombie apocalypse happens I can shoot any ammo I can find. It has great sights, has the mag cut off feature, safety placement,
And the finish on the Benelli guns I have seen has been really weather resistant. Plus the price point
Doesn't seem to bad.

So does anyone have a nova they could tell me how they like it.
Or any thoughts on the subject if tactical shotguns. Pics of what you run would be appreciated.

Don't call it a platform.... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> !!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

My pet hate in the world...LOL

OK... no experience with the Benelli but over 30 years with the 870. If your heart is set on an auto no problem but why not get an old 870 (they are really common used from my experience in the US (cosmetic issues are no problem) ) and have it fitted with GR sights and a refinish (if required). All manner of stocks and accessories are available to make it work for you.

I bought my first 870 in 1983 (I was 14 at the time) and have carried them at work for the past 20 years. I have experience with training guns that were first put into service in the early 70s and have been beaten on ever since. The ugliest was recently given a face lift as a project, new springs all round (no needed but done), updated shell lifter, new stock work (had original timber that was painted black and still functional) and cerakoted. At the end it was the best looking and smoothest running gun in a rack of 30...!!!

I have a benneli m1 super 90 and it rocks. Not much more to be said other than it kicks like a mule.

I have a 870 with a cantilever slug barrel and 28inch field barrel. I agree that they are still a good shot gun. The 870 is nice that you can swap parts so easily. The Benelli m4 would be my choice but I am trying to get this to be a less than 700 dollar buy including mag extension tube and Mesa tactical shell side Sattle. I don't really have the funds or tools to put on the ghost ring sights I like on the 870 and I don't want to pay to refinish a brand new gun. and the Benelli does have the ghost rings i like standard from the factory. I like that Remington's new tactical guns take rem chokes so if you have to hunt with it you can help compensate for the short barrel.

It's still a hard call. I have a 870 already so if things went bad and a part broke on one I can steal a part from the other. But the benellis I have seen are outstanding quality.

If you are going for an end of the world gun, go with the 870, OR 1187 maybe?

Watched two new 1187s fail miserably this fall when guiding clients. Me and the other guide were trying to get them to work and had to let the clients barrow guns to hunt.

It's either the 870 or the Benelli super nova.

I'm partial to mossbergs. I have the maverick 88 variant and i love it. That's a little trickier to find mods for though. Also the 88 has a standard trigger safety, not the tang safety like the 500. No experience with benelli.
