Well...
My LE was getting kind of lonely, and feeling outnumbered, so, I bought it a new black-coated friend!
I figure you just cannot have too much of a good thing. After all, I have 2 hands, so, it follows that I will need 2 scrappers.

Yep big choppers are quite cool if you don't mind humping the weight up mountains! Middle sized choppers are handier like that...

And terrible weather lately.

Hey Leatherface. Do you think you could do up a kydex for me? I know you've made them for the Scrapper before and I don't think I want to strap this cardboard sheath to me when I deploy.

The whole state seems like it's about to wash away. I'm hoping I won't have any issues getting on a plane tomorrow.

PM Sent about sheath. I have a pair each of my appendages so I can spare them to keep my knife warm. I think your work is a bit more reasonable than some other sheath makers I've seen though.

Right after you sell me mine, you can charge as much as you want. You should probably even give me a discount for pointing out your pricing mistakes.

gravelface-
Im counting it as a different knife, as I will have one LE and one standard.
Thus, I justify the duplicate purchase...
In all seriousess, I really do like the knife a lot. It is an excellent size. Not too big to carry, not too small to do just about everything you can reasonably ask of it. if I did not get another, I could see myself regretting it down the road, as I already do with the Swamp's battlerat.

Roo - I agree with your theory. I already have the CG Scrapper, and I'm hoping my wife gets me an LE version for my birthday. The Swamp's discontinuing the Camp Tramp and Battlerat - which I still don't understand - should teach us all a lesson. Fortunately for me, I acquired both models; they are terrific blades, as are the Scrappers. Tom

Roo, do Scrappers really need safety in numbers? They are the top predator! Great idea having the cg and LE too though! I agree with PK about the BR's demise- [censored] fool idea stopping them! Missing out on spare Scrappers could grate down the road... When Dan does the INFI my credit card limit will get seriously hurt!!!

Paul,
Since dogs like to travel in packs, I needed another to increase my pack's size until the bowie comes out. Plus, I had that 'want a new knife' fever.

Tom,
I had always liked the camp tramp, in any of it's versions, but was too lazy to order it, with the everlasting wait for delivery. Now, my scrapper is practically the same size, with a much better blade shape (to me), and delivery is, well, in the same year.
I did get a satin battlerat, which I love. Had ordered a tan BR, but it never made delivery.

No, the CT is a little longer. I'm going by having seen the SY6 is the same blade size at the M6, and I have an M6 and a CT and it's a little longer. Here's a pic so you can see:

Roo - I fully understand having that "new knife fever" - I just ordered an LE version to go with my CG version! When my WONDERFUL wife asked what I wanted for my birthday, I told her a Scrapper LE. She said to go ahead and order one, so I did!!! I will make a new sheath for it myself, thereby retaining the "Scrap Yard " ideology.

Now, if they would only make the Bowie available for Christmas......... Tom

Or do like I was planning and recycle leather. Start looking at auctions, garage sales, and thrift stores for larger thicker leather like weightlifting belts, gun scabbards, etc. I've seen several thick weightlifting belts for $2-$3.

Most of the ones I've seen were at Goodwill. But, ya gotta keep checking. I regularly go to 7 or so different Goodwills throughout the week, and I've only seen 3-4 total there so far. But at least when you find one, they're really cheap!

Paul - I had bought some heavy leather scraps at the Tulsa gun show -cheap! - that I plan on using. Also, I have ordered a few items from LEATHER UNLIMITED, www.leatherunltd.com located in Wisconsin. I bought some cutlers rivets, holster clips, and a few other goodies from them, and they have been very good to deal with.

Andy made a great suggestion, that of checking Goodwills, and other thrift shops for materials. It is amazing what you can find there sometimes, and it is a good idea to keep checking back as they receive new stuff every week. My wife and I almost always find something!!!

Also for leathermaking supplies don’t forget www.tandyleather.com they may have a store near you that would save you on shipping.

I started it. He’s just copying me. It only works for smaller knives though due to width restrictions. But belts are a cheap source for leather if the knife is small enough. I can get brand new belts from the belt guy at the Sale Barn for $3 each. Or sometimes I find like new ones at Goodwill for $1. If you haven’t seen my belt sheath in progress, you can see it here: Shaker Sheath in Progress. And if you want to see the thead where we were originally talking about it and sharing leather making tips, see this thread: Leather Sheathmaking Question

Andy - Your sheath looks a lot like the one I made for my Scrapper, only I used leather cement and cutler's rivets. I will make a nicer one when I receive my LE version. Tom

I thought of using pop rivets or something that would be easier, but I thought it wouldn’t look as nice. Eventually I’ll get around to finishing it. I’ve also been trying to wait until we’d be on the W side of Indy for some reason so I could go to the Tandy store and pick up some waxed thread. I don’t wait to pay $8 shipping for a $3 item.

Andy - If you get to Tandy, where the leather is handy, buy some cutler's rivets because they are dandy! You could make a decent sheath by just punching holes and inserting rivets - a few taps with a hammer joins the two rivet parts quite nicely. Tom
