Those are great ponchos. Does yours have the snaps on the edges? I still use mine even though they are OD and not the trendy camo designs.

Monsterdog I did think about the 300 black out and 458 socom and 7.62x40WT but ammo availability and cost have narrowed it down to 7.62x39 or 5.45x39. It's a hard decision. lol
edit to add yeah the old mags had issues but there are some reliable options now. 300 AAC BA is a reloader's dream, or so I heard. Basically a 308 cartridge in a necked down 5.56x45 casing. So if you reload this ammo should be fairly cheap and plentiful

Haha, NO smell like that. Like I said in 68 I was 14, in 69 15. Yup it has the smaps along the edge.

the issue I have had with 300 black out is it was designed for subsonic use the some loaded it up to supersonic but it's not ideal at those speeds. 7.62x40 is the same case a 5.56x40 necked up and trimmed to 40mm but was designed as a supersonic round so it can be loaded hotter and hit harder. but they both perform the same or lower than a 7.62x39 both in FPS and FTLBS so the ability to find and shoot relatively cheap ammo puts the x39 ahead for me.

Friday I bought 500+ rounds of 22. Last week, I ordered a vortex magnifier to put behind my aimpoint on my AR. 2 weeks before, I got a 22/45. Other day, I also picked up a Vex on ebay

I'd still like to get a 6.8 SPC someday. Not practical from the standpoint of a BOG due to ammo availability, but seems like a great deer round--better than the 300 Blackout or the 7.62x39

MERRY CHRISTMAS IN JUNE! I just looked in a box I had some "Stuff" in. I found a couple knife sheaths, two more GI 30 round mags for my AR, TWO 550 packs of 22 PLUS two 50 packs of CCI 22 mini mags! This is in addition to the 300 rounds I have in a drawer.
Oh and I also found two 25 round boxes of 20 gauge shells.
