How is your 527 treating you Lazi? I'm liking mine with the Redfield scope, but dang it heats up fast!

The CZ527 is still my go to deer rifle. I just need to get a deer with it. Hopefully that will happen in a week or so. I just hate that I finally had the rifle how I wanted it and screwed that up by putting the Viper on my SCAR. It looks so perfect on there I can't bring myself to take it back off.

But yup, that Redfield scope was probably the most recommended scope I had seen for the 527. I just liked my Burris 3-9x40 and had decided to go with their offering instead until their found the viper. Plus I see a NIB E1 for $110... I think I would rather have a fixed power scope on this rifle just to keep things simple but nobody makes a current offering with the options as I would like. The Weaver 6x would be fine if it had the reticle I wanted. So I'm back and forth on which one to get. Either one would likely get replaced if I couple find another Viper though.

My choices are between the E1, a older Meopta 4x32, or a Weaver ,6x38. Hess would be replacing the Viper that went from my CZ527 to my SCAR. The Burris was my first choice to go on the CZ. The Meopta has the exact reticle I want but I can't actually look at the scope. The Weaver is an option since I want a 6X fixed scope and could swap it around should I ever find another Viper. Been a hard choice to make. Wish I could see the glass on the Meopta.

I'll let ya know what I think of it when it gets here. One of Chuck Hawks "Recommended Scopes" in the "three plus" stars category. Weaver can be all over the board depending on the model. Never handled a meopta either...

Just got the Burris in today. I really like it. Nice clear glass. 2-7x35 is about perfect for the 100 yard or less tree stand gun. For the money, it's hard to beat. Seems lIke it will be good in low ligjt. Wasn't sure I'd like the crosshairs only on the middle of the reticle, but it quickly grew on me.

Chuck HawK's Review

Burris Fullfield e1 series

Never knew just how good these things were! Worth full price IMO. I think you could easily pay more and get less with a different scope. Of course, this is just first impressions--won't have a chance to use it until after Christmas, but the glass is bright, clear edge to edge, easy to focus, has an easy to operate magnification ring, and the quality just feels solid. The specs sound really amazing.

It's made in the Philippines, but unlike other companies that outsource their specs to OEMs across the Pacific Rim, Burris made an exact copy of all their tools, machines, etc--the whole dang shop--and used it to set up a brand new factory overseas that they run and that just makes Burris scopes to the company's specs. They have both shops still running so some of their stuff is still made here as is their customer service. They also apparently use the same coatings and process on every scope--all are fully multicoated, so there's really no such thing as an optically inferior line--ie none that are just coated or multicoated).

I feel like a fanboy and all I did was open the box and install it on the gun grin

lazi, if you can pick up the e1 for 110, that's a heck of a deal! Heck, I'd probably buy it off you if you don't want it! grin It would work well on a brush gun I've got.

If you want a REALLY smoking deal on a scope:

Minox at Buds

They'll sell them for 130.

So I'm looking for a scope for my new SPR build. I want a scope with tactical turrets. Ranging recticle suitable for holdovers, illuminated recticle, first focal plane, between 2.5-10 or 4-16 zoom capability, it's a tall order but I want all this for less than $1000
Does anybody have any recommendations?

GD, it sounds like you are wanting a Vortex Viper PST of some sorts. Everything else I can think of is going to be north of $1K unless you find something that's "open box" or "demo" type stuff. And even I can't say I have seen anything with all the features you are wanting for the price you are wanting.

Over the summer I saw a Brunton 1.5-5x20 that was marked pretty low compared to the mark. I think it was $139 on a particular website. The lower model actually got half decent reviews and was also on sale for around $80. I tossed the idea of trying one around for a couple weeks but when I went to buy one they had changed the website and moved the stuff to eBay the day before. So when I called they said I had to buy it off eBay and $189 was the best they could do. Too rich for my blood.. so here we are a few months later and on the same site has the same scope for $70. So I just ordered one. They are $200 pretty much everywhere else. I figure it's worth a try.

The thing is, from my understanding Brunton no longer makes/distributes scopes and will only warranty scopes with proof of purchase from before they quit. I actually looked through one at a lgs and it wasn't that bad. Only sonny thing was that they had "Brunton" written inside the lense below the reticle. I hope that it was just a display model and not the way they do all of their scopes. But I'm thinking it's worth a shot.
