Yep those vortex optics seem like the only option.

While scouring the internet on my EXTRA night at work I somewhere saw mention of Lucid red dots/scopes. Having never heard of the before my interest was piqued by the HD7 Gen III.

Here's the home page.
http://mylucidgear.com/

Any way, NOT finding any info on the scope (size wise beyond the weight) I sent them an email and this is the response I got if any of you are interested. Oh and it uses 1 3AAA battery! Battery life 1k hours on high 5k on lowest.

HD7 Over All length is 5.5”

The HD7 takes up 3” of rail space
The HD7 optical center is 1.75” over the rail (1/3 lower co-witness “mil - Spec”)
The over all height of the optic is 3.25”
Turret to turret the width go the optic is 2.75” with a objective lens of 34mm.

FYI, there are some smoking deals on Vortex Diamondback HPs at Midwayusa and opticsplanet. Under $200 for the 2-8 or the 3-12. Puts the regular Diamondback to shame and easily outperforms the Burris e1 in 2-8 that I have.

And Randy, Lucid makes a great red dot wink

Thanks DT. Once we recover some more from the $$$$$ we've spent the last 3 or so months I think that might be one I will finally wind up with.

A friend and I have been testing his ACOG against my Aimpoint CompM4 at 7 to 100 yards. The Aimpoint is faster and more accurate in all "combat shooting" scenarios. If he slows down, the ACOG does well at distance.

I think our shooting abilities aren't equal and that might have some effect, but he was a Marine for 8 years so he knows his way around an AR (and shoots regularly).
