No batteries, low profile, low light capable. Sort of similar to a red dot sight: http://seeallopensight.com/

That looks like a nice addition to my lever action.

I don't shoot as much as I used to but if you can fit a big objective lens on your rifle, that is the way to go for low light, IMO. I prefer zooms so that I can use low powers at dusk and high-power at long range.
I have found nice glass in Nikon, Leupold and Swarovski consistently. I have found some bargains from old model Bushnell and Tasco, too. I went out on a limb and bought an SWFA Super Sniper about ten years ago. One of the clearest scopes I had ever handled.

Just waiting at home patiently for the courier to deliver a new (to me ) Leupold MKIV 6.5-20x50 for my SSG... I was going for a Nightforce but when I laid it all out and measured the Nightforce was not going to fit and I found the secondhand Leupy at a pretty good price.

They are brilliant, and I will have one on my next project I suspect, the only viable contender for my SSG just would not fit sadly.

I use there strike fire on my AR and have had zero issues with it and I do like it. As far as long gun scopes I havent tried them but they do appear to have the QC down so I dont see the harm in checking them out.

i put a leatherwood hi-lux ler 2-7x32 scope on my scout. ehh... works fine and looks fine so far. i think i need to see how i like the rifle with a regular scope on it. i just hate to give up the iron sights.
i also got my cz527 scoped. i put the $20 used burris 3-9x40 on there and while it looks big on the rifle it works pretty good. i put it on with the quick detach rings i got from a JYD (thanks!!!) and it's makes for a great setup. i was hunting in what my family calls "the swamp" part of our property. lot's of brush and twisting paths across 40 acres with about four or five 50-150 yard clearings. i've seen quite a few deer on the paths into the swamp where irons sights work a whole lot better. i've had deer within 30 feet on me but when you get to the stands you may or may want to use the scope. being able to slap the scope on and know you still know you are hunting accurate keeps you in the game the whole time you are out there.
after rifle season is over i will probably get a burris e1 2-7x35. again i am just impressed but the scope but even more by what i'm reading and experienced with burris so far.
