I see merit in what your saying and I am applying the concept. I have 22lr .223 .308 12ga 40s&w all covered now. Just a few little tweaks and I have my base armory for my area that I live.

I got a metal mag in the mail today from. http://www.alphaindmfg.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=51The review made it sound great. But I'm calling the company tomorrow. First you can't insert the mag with the bolt closed Second to feed a round you have to SLAM THE BOLT CLOSED!!!! Third when you pull the bolt back to extract the round the round comes back but the bottom of the case hits the top of the next one in the mag and it just sits there not finishing the extraction. The mag feels like quality and the finish is good but the function sucks for a $62 mag!!!

Ouch yes a bad mag can ruin a decent weapon and if I am paying 60 plus dollars for a mag it better be flawless.
PS it sounds like it is locking into place to high in the mag well causing the function issues and the inability to lock in with the bolt closed.

hey architect, that's some good stuff about caliber. might want to stick a version of that in the rethinking caliber thread just as something to noodle on.

$60 mag not working right? not cool... you'd expect it to function flawless at that price. hope you get it sorted.

Called alpha twice today. Left a massage with my phone num and said call me. That was 8am and nothing yet. I think your right on the fact it's sitting to high. But I'm not breaking out a file on it. I will call tomorrow and the day after and the day after ![wink wink](/images/graemlins/default_dark/wink.gif)

I have several Alpha mags and they work flawlessly. Just to be sure you did get the one specifically for the Gunsite rifle. They have a couple versions and that is the only one that works with the Gunsite. I've found him to be very easy to work with when calling him to check on orders, etc.

Hmm, type 2 doesn't ring a bell. This is the model I got is the Alpha 308 Magazine / Ruger GSR - Item# ALPH-GSR308
It was specifically called the GSR model and both mags work like a charm(I haven't used the third one yet). Better than the factory steel mag btw. They also hold 11 rounds.

Weird, that is no longer an option at their store. I wonder if they just renamed it or something. It's also possible that you got a type 1 by mistake.
