Its a great idea, Gary. I know I would buy one.
Something I've found with the Scrapivores is that if I use a lefty ( I'm right handed ) it doesn't dig into my palm nearly as much.

The 460 is a great game and kitchen blade but I would mod the design for field use

Maybe I should just grind the pokey edge off my Scrapivores and consider it done? That's definitely the cheapest route to go, probably what I would do if the pry bar bothered me. I think in the smaller knives, SR-101 makes the most sense anyways. You get better abrasion resistance, a finer edge and more edge stability at half/third of the price. Not to mention that the Scrapivore's are running at 60-62 RC, which is just a bonus. I agree with everything you said.

I've had not a 460, but it seems like (as gun dog said) a kitchen knife.
  I'm after a true bush-crafter skelly.

You 100% dedicated to the skeleton handle Arch? The original Vex has a bunch of what you are looking for...that's a slender handle on that one.

RN,
I'm not familiar with the Vex. I'll have to google it.

Just looked it up. That's pretty close to what I'm after.
Of course, being the sort I am, I'd want to change the design a little but overall that's a pretty good starting point.

The Anniversary Mean Street is even pretty thin with the handles. I would imagine that it would also make a great necker at just over 8" OAL.
The one downside I see with skeleton handles is that they aren't very comfortable in use, especially for tasks that require a good amount of force to cut. Or those tasks that require prolonged use or strange grip positions.
Another great option IMO would be the CABS, the handle is already pretty slim but could be ground down or removed to create a skeleton CABS.

NOW, Y'all are doing some knife talking! GREAT job. And Yeah I agree, a nice 3 3/4 to 4 inch bladed skelly would be nice. Plastidip would make a great handle coating and it would be sensational piggybacked with something in the 7 1/2-13 inch range blade. I might well get two of those as well. How 'bout it Dan. Do we need to sic the Squirrel on Ya?
