Think I'll carry a shotgun today. They were just moving too quick yesterday for a rifle, and when they did stop you couldn't see them for the leaves still on the trees.

Not a bad morning in the woods.

Some of the fattest squirrels I've ever seen. Could have shot several more but my wife was along and I was trying to let her kill one. Still a good morning all around.

so I got all my crap sorted out. by some miracle everything hit my accounts with the typo coming in last. only cost me $25!

sorry but his isnt a story with a happy ending. my day was actually going by just fine. but apparently the chucklehead that lives inside me had already prepared a surprise. I won't get into details but I will say two things: rusty fish hooks and australia!!! it's this type of stuff i have to consider when I wonder if I will fall in a river. I consider myself an fairly intelligent person but it 's those sometimes that will really mess you up.

Let a 6 point and a big doe walk. Took a little one that was hanging around too long (2 hours). Just the right size for a batch of Italian sausage.

i've been trying to decide if i want to do any squirrels this year. rabbits for sure but squirrels. ehhh... i have only shot them as pests and it's been a long time since ive eaten any squirrel.

I don't eat them myself. But my dad will eat all I can bring him. So I don't feel bad about shooting them. I usually don't hunt what I don't eat, but since they don't go to waste I hunt them quite a bit.

The boy actually killed one yesterday with my Ruger MkII pistol. We all enjoy getting out in the woods and hunting.
