I thought the preppers did a poor job of security, placing the kid on night duty.

That's why you want to have a bag with some supplies in your vehicle! If I'm at work, I'm set. And when I'm just out and about I've usually got the essentials to get home. (Water, gun, etc.) It's the others in my family that stay woefully unprepared that worry me. Make up a bag for each vehicle, then explain/teach them what everything is used for.

I caught the last hour of it last night. I thought it had a bit of an anti prepper/antigun slant to it. there has been a lot of that coming out of the peoples republic of california lately(encouraged by the political machine I am sure), my view on it is you can't control people who can provide for themselves so make them out the the bad guys when ever you can.

It made them look incompetent. I guess they didn't want it to look like someone could survive 10 days without power without losing their minds.
LOL, I spend 2 weeks in spike camps every fall hunting Elk. I live pretty comfortably.

I used to spend a week at a time in an old bus camping and hunting for whitetails. I lived pretty good then myself. Could definately live a long while like that.

Thats what gets me. They could have done a whole lot of good by encouraging people to have 2 weeks worth of food, medicine and supplies set back.
I have enough water in my water heaters to keep us going for two weeks. Thats aside from anything I have set aside.
With a minor amount of preparation its pretty easy to make it a month with what you have onhand for everyday use and a 2 week store of foods.

I could eat pretty well with what I have stored up, we have a good spring at the bottom of the hill, I have a full 100lb propane tank for the gas logs and a couple of tanks for the grill, and plenty of firewood. I'm thinking I'll be ok for a while.

I'm loving my Waka Waka lights. I would do just fine in that scenario. I have enough solar stuff and panels I would be pretty well off.

I want to get a 300 watt panel for my Camper. I could run everything off of that without draining a battery bank at all.
