This is the Cold Steel FGX Karambit. ![[Linked Image from imageshack.us]](http://imageshack.us/a/img196/9484/dxeq.jpg) This is the Honshu Karambit. ![[Linked Image from imageshack.us]](http://imageshack.us/a/img706/2541/d23z.jpg) Not as nice as the Emersons of course.

Ray, as you say it may not be as nice (let's just say expensive) as Emersons, but it sure is prettier! Looks just as capable to me, plus it has the "Brake" on the ring and that sharp point, pain compliance and all that.
If I saw that in the hand, it sure would scare me!

I heard a "Blurb" from a knife reviewer on the net that the Honshu line is United Cutlery's attempt to "Improve" their quality, and he says they did good.

Yes, I follow him on youtube. I like his reviews and he is an FMA instructor. That's why I got the Honshu. I wanted either that or the Colt Desert Karambit. He convinced me that the Honshu was better.

He said something on a vid a while back that made a lot a sense to me. He was doing a review on budget knives and said that a lot of people looked down on them because the steel was not as good as that on higher end knives. He stated that if he were going into a combat situation where he could not adequately maintain the edge on his knives that would indeed be a concern. But he asked how good the edge would have to be to cut flesh. A dedicated fighting knife should not be used to cut boxes and baton wood.
