AFter watching the past few belt testings I saw several kids who shouldn't have passed.

The sad part is the instructors are all champs. Literally Nah, the sad part is they are in it for the money instead of the art. I really enjoyed providing it as a service. Never took a dollar in payment myself. We charged a nominal fee to cover rent and expenses, but it made it available to a lot of people that could use it and it made it so the instructors weren't churning out black belts to meet a contract.

The dudes I fought in Korea were brutal. I used to watch our KATUSA's practice. Those guys were insanely talented.

Being a TKD "champ" here doesn't mean you know anything about the art. Some of the Olympic competitors (at least early on) just showed a natural aptitude for sparring, trained for 6-12 moths, were given a belt and won some medals. Made me sad...

they know how to spar within the parameters of the rules and how to train others to compete on a similar way, but not necessarily much more.
