43 degrees here, 44 will be the high. That is RARE for southeast Texas!

I think I've decided against buying Danta's Christmas offering. My mil overrun 511 will fill that role well enough. If it had a 4 inch blade then I'd be on it.
Seems like a heck of a deal though.

I'm thinking the same thing. The collector in me wants one, but I'd probably never use it.

If it were a re-issue of the Muk or Mud Puppy, I'd be all over it.

But this one, I'm just not sure about. I may think differently once Christmas shopping is over and done with.

I've been trying to remember what all was said in Dan's thread a while back. I don't remember that many people asking for a 5"+ slicer. Oh well, it what it is.

For me the cons outweigh the pros.
 Pros: Blade steel, thickness, handle.

Cons: Oddly sized choil, blade length, blade shape.

I tried to talk myself into it, but I know I would just turn around and get rid of it.

I would've REALLY liked a 4" blade of the same thickness with either a clip point or drop point, and no choil. I'm fine with the mudder handle, but the War Dog handle would've been cool too.

The people have spoken, and Dan listened. Can't make everyone happy.

Todd, you're SO easy to please! ..... Actually, I think the Mutt, with its thin blade and length will be a very handy knife to have.

It would make a good camp knife, for very light wood work and food prep.
I don't understand choils that are that size. One that is much smaller would be just as functional as a sharpening choil. The one on the HRLM is the worst I've seen. Its way oversized as a sharpening choil, and I don't think my 4 year old son could fit his finger in there.
