That would be unusual for someone to not be criminally charged in a situation like that. I was just doing a case study were a officer was charged with involuntary manslaughter and found guilty for a training accident where a trainee was shot and killed.

There are bad cops and bad agencies. In fact the rampant corruption in the small town I grew up in was one of the main reasons I became a cop. I knew I could do a better job and be honest and just.

The only dirty cop I have ever seen was fired and charged criminally. We have zero tolerance for that.

Search and seizure is very complicated and often ends in court from both sides. There are volumes of case law on the subject.

Law enforcement often gets painted as the boogie man. And most of the time its wrong. but anytime a Law Enforcement Officer does something wrong in one portion of the country, everyone of us get the blame. it's just the nature of the beast.
