I like the way you think Ish! That tenderloin was delish. Can't wait to get some dried sausage that I'm having made from the front shoulders /drool. I've often thought of buying some gear to sausagify some deer...but after running the numbers, it just doesn't work out. I only kill about one per year...

I guess these are considered choils, and I do love these types. I don't have either knife anymore, but I do have another one on order that should be ready soon. ![[Linked Image from i1091.photobucket.com]](http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i393/amflud/IMAG0307_zps946f50c2.jpg) I guy I work with makes so much sausage every year that he doesn't know what to do with it. He gave me a ton of it last season.

A New Vex like the top one in my pic. Tanker with tan canvas, swedged clip point to cut the weight down. As soon as I get it its going to Norcalblacktail to be skeletonized.

It really won't cost that much. The knife will be about $190 from the swamp, and Nathan will be doing a total of 3 knives for me in order to justify the cost of shipping.
I agree. That blade with res-c would be awesome, and I wouldn't have to be bothered with this custom order then voiding the warranty to lighten it up. Of course putting a mudder handle on a New Vex blade basically gives you a fat Sr101 Bog Dog. I'd love one with no choil at all.

Nice shot placement I bet you didnt have walk all over heck to find him did you. He went all of 10 yds…did a circle and basically ended up within about 2 feet of where I shot him. hehe. Suuure. We all know .22 diameter bullets won't kill a deer..... Pretty strong argument for shot placement when everybody wants to make caliber the only thing that matters....

Placement trumps everything. I've killed deer with a. 22 lr. I just don't like an inexperienced hunter using a smaller round.

What sort of shot placement did you use with the 22 lr?

If you can put a .22LR into a critter's ear standing broadside it should suffice. An Inuit woman killed the 1953? world record grizzly that way. It was trailing her, and she moved around some big rocks for the broadside shot; it worked!
