a phone call with a pleasant but direct attitude gets a lot more done than a po'd sob with a chip on his/her shoulder looking to throw anybvody and everybody under the bus. i tell folks all the time "i'm not trying to waste your time" or that "i'm not trying to screw up your day" but i most certainly will unless things go my way. and i'll do it with a whole bunch of "thank you's" and "please's".

I tried the calling and emailing thing it got me no where so I am ramping it up to public shame it always seems to get results

people not answering the phone is actually a big plus when you get ready to start throwing people under the bus. take names keep times and dates, etc...

i tend to get long winded and overly detailed about this stuff. the key is to bug people and rifle through the pile of "clock riders" until you find the guy who came to work to actually work. play dumb be nice and know what your goal is. keep trying until you can laugh about it.

LOL I am very bad at playing nice, but I understand where you are coming from my ire gets up and i just want to take action sometimes. I value my free time more than my work time so I find it extremely hard to sit on the phone talking to people who I most likely will dislike.

when i start calling i automatically just put the phone on speaker because i'll let it ring for something like 10 minutes. then i'll dial the next extension up or down and start asking who is at extension ### and if they came to work today?

"i hate to bother you but please explain that to me again"

because i'm really stupid and your last explanation didn't include giving me exactly what i want.

"so, you are saying that....?"

"i'm sorry but what if..."

"well if you don't mind please tell me who..."

"i don't mean to waste your time (yes i do!) but i really need you to explain..."

i'm so pleasant they don't even realize that it's actually a standoff lol!!!!

it usually works faster than you might think. and if they want to stick to "i can't help you" thencall back tomorrow and pretend like it's a new conversation lol.. it's also amazing how you can dial up or down one number in the phone number or extension and get another department. explain the problem to a new set of ears and even though they can't do anything directly you start throwing folks under the bus and hopefully they will help you bypass those "people who didn't want to answer the phone".
