Magnum22,

I like the cord wrap you put on your mini prybar.

Magnum22,

If possible, I recommend bouncing your flash off your ceiling, for shots like this.

yeah, the main edc is at it again with the shining. i'm no photographer, i let the cannon and a mercury bulb do the work. been considering constructing a paper light box, though.

"I'm going for joint 50/50 for the next year until he starts school..."

When my folks divorced, the custody was 50/50. My parents did something rather unusual: They bought houses across the street from each other, and I switched houses every other day. (Eventually, it drifted to both houses several times a day, going wherever I wanted whenever I wanted.) It worked well.

I don't know whether this is feasible in your situation, but if it is, it's worth considering, to minimize the impact of divorce and custody issues on your son.

We live about 7 hours from where she has been since my son was born - (we were never married - pretty complicated!) - but that was the same city my parents live in - which worked out great. I'll be moving back there for a year to work/pay off some bills while working on my MA online - then I'll be moving again for a few years and going to law school.

It sucks that I can't be closer - but finishing school and making the $$ will be pretty important for his future. I'd rather be able to put him on a flight "first class" to come stay with me for the summers/holidays than buy him a bus ticket. And, hopefully I'll end up being able to get primary custody down the road - there will be a huge disparity in "quality of life" between my household and hers - its pretty apparent now, but will be much greater in the future.

A paper light box can be effective. Another option is to do these kinds of photos outside, on an overcast day.
