I wouldn't exactly call an MRE heater a microwave, but I suppose it is handier than a trioxane heat tab in an empty can. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

And all the cool little things you can do with those heaters....20 oz bombs.....Tabassco bombs......and the fact they just smelled horrible...was a good reason to through them in someones tent!

Over in the sandbox, did you guys use trioxane heat tabs, hexamine, or WHAT ?

Well, times and situations change I guess. I still like the trioxane tabs, and keep some in my bags.

I like the flammable gel emergency stoves you can get, they are like 3" high tin cans with a lid you can prise off then place back on later to reseal them. The contents are like Vaseline jelly but burns very nicely... As a kid we'd light globs of the gel and float it down streams at night... (No countryside was damaged during these moments of insanity!) Ahh happy days...
