Ok, in a fit of madness,I had an idea. I like the idea of getting a surpressed 300 blk modern sporting rifle. But if I Go through the hassle, why not broaden the utility and run it off a lever action 30-30. I assume I could use the same can, Given they are both 308cal. Maybe I could get one of my 30-06e thteadef while I'm at it and a 9mm.

THought? Doable? crazy? or awesome!

Are you going with a SBR? The 300BLK was designed for sub sonic SBR's.
Suppressed lever action? Interesting.
If you hand load, why not just load down the 30/30 to sub sonic. Wouldn't be able to use anything but flat point or gummy tips but sounds like a neat idea.

I don't know much about 30-30, but I would guess the major advantage of 300 BLK would be bullet selection and availability of better BC projectiles that allow them to stay effective at longer range than the 30-30. If you don't need that range, then perhaps it is not a big concern.

It is out there but it is pricey. This is the main reason I am not doing one right now. I have plenty of brass to cut down and form, just not the time to do it right now.

I like the 7.62x40WT for a 30 cal ar platform round.

First I heard of that one. It has a bit more punch, but it still looks like 300BLK has advantages in subsonic suppressed applications and uses stock 5.56 magazines.

Well as far as subsonic goes I am done kicking in doors so I will take the more punch over quiet, and it will work in 5.56 mags with a small modification that doesn't prevent them from working with 5.56 anymore. I guess the 300 whisper has just never appealed to me in the ar platform as it is basically an upgrade from subsonic pistol rounds which IMHO isn't saying much.

I'd agree with that. I have an M1 Garand for that extra punch.

Never much cared for 300 BLK in the past, but recently saw test with it working long-distance and maintaining accuracy with the subsonic round. Just not much energy on target when the projectile gets there. Just enough to punch a deep .30" hole. Nothing I would personally buy.

The extra heavy bullet really helps stability leading to long range accuracy. The M1 is a really nice piece bty.
