Earlier I said:

Walkabout:
1. WarDog
2. 411
3. Swamp Warden

End of The World:
1. 1311
2. S5
3. 311

And as stated, this is not an Always these, but could change on a whim.

But on further reflection I have changed it some.

Walkabout:
1. Tali-whacker (for what life might bring)
2. S5
3. Mud Puppy

This will give me the versatility I feel would be most useful in any situation.

One semi-large blade (Tali-Whacker) for emergency shelter building or possible defense against man or beast where carrying a firearm could land you in Federal Custody.

A light weight mid sized blade that will that will be up to the task asked of any "Bushcraft" blade.

A smaller blade for delicate work and just general small knife tasks where a sharper point may be needed and for skinning.

End Of The World:
1. BWM (Bush Whacker Mistress)
2. WarDog
3. Mud Puppy

Once again, a larger knife for shelter building/ease of preparing fire making material and protection from man or beast if needed.

A medium size knife for "Bushcraft" needs that covers most all tasks normally associated with "Hunting" Knives.

A smaller blade for delicate work such as preparing food for the fire and "Minor" surgery that would invariably happen.

Two INFI blades, nothing more really needs to be said. And One Stainless Steel blade. All three lending themselves to not needing to be babied or pampered to much to keep them in top shape as far as corrosion control is concerned.

Well there you have it. It was (For me) a tough decision and is a departure from my original post. But looking at all the aspects and trying to be realistic (would we REALLY need to depend on a knife to defend ourselves from other people) I think my second choices are much more aligned with the real world uses for the blades.

And Randy bails on the S5!

After your post I was remembering what a cool knife it is. It was such a versatile blade with such a great grind. I was amazed it was such a good slicer.

OOPS! Rich, thanks for pointing that out. I Still Like the S5 and Was going to change the Mud Mutt to the S5 but got side tracked by work and didn't get it done. I THINK the S5 is a little pointer than the Mudd Mutt. I like the thumb ramp and the choil on the S5 and picked it for these features over the Mud mutt.

I didn't include it in my revised EOTW pick because it would require more care to keep rust free and in a EOTW situation you would probably be more concerned with other stuff and would neglect (without meaning to) the Carbon steel.

Now that being said, IF I had an INFI S5 it would be on both my lists, GUARANTEED! grin

DANG! Now I owe a liberal. mad wink
