My next 1911 will likely be a Springfield. Their GI model would be a great cheap platform to build off of, if you don't mind that parkerized finish.

A lot of folks up here like using the Norinco 1911 as a platform as it is really cheap and actually decent. It can handle all the parts as well.

i wouldn't expect a guy with your tastes to go for a taurus. not knockin the pistol, just figured you'd shoot for something fancy and domestic, like busses.
