i often make a point that many guitarists, or musicians in general, wouldn't be remembered as greatly if they hadn't died. beck was a better guitarist than hendrix, but beck's still alive. elvis died. cobain is a perfect example.
dime is an exception. definitely one of metal's greatest gutiar players.

i didn't even want that dime guitar, i just wanted to play it once in the store. i plugged it in and the sounds i got were one in a million. all of a sudden leaving it at the store didn't seem worth $1k.
