Have truer words ever been spoken ? Been going through some rough times and just sort of need someone to talk to , or tell too I guess . So I'm turning to my fellow dogs . Hope you don't mind .

Anyway , this time last year I was new to the whole Busse , Scrap Yard and Swamp Rat thing . Well it didn't take long for the addiction to set in lol . My first one was a Busse Basic 6LE , then I found the Yard and got a Dogfather , a 511 , a 711 and THE KNIFE I had been looking for from the start , a Scrapper 6 . I went on to buy a Busse Basic 4LE two Busse Skeleton Keys , three Busse BOSS Streets , a Busse Magnum Bear Cub , a Busse Satin Jack TAC and a Swamp Rat Ratmandu . Not bad eh ?

That's what I thought too . Then certain things in my life started taking a downward turn . One that would leed me to having to sell nearly ALL my knives . Actually that's not what upsets me most . Some I had already sold to buy others as I'm not really a collector and am much more of a user , so I didn't need all those knives . What kills me is that when I started selling them off I looked at my Basic 6 and my Scrapper 6 and thought I don't need two 6 inch knives and I sold my Scrapper thinking the Busse HAD to be better (dumb a$$) . Because I had more money tied up in the Busse I eventually sold it too .

Actually I sold all of them except my Dogfather (thats NEVER going anyway) and my little Busse Magnum Bear Cub which has become my EDC . Now I so regret ever parting with my personal grail knife the Scrapper 6 . It would be the perfect mid sized knife to fill the gap between my little Bear Cub and my chopper the Dogfather .

So there you have it . I HAD my grail knife in my hands and let it go . Didn't know what I had till it was gone . If I'm ever lucky enough to find one at a price I can afford I will buy it and like the Dogfather it will NEVER be sold . So don't jump too quickly guys . Sometimes it's better to just set them aside for a while and think about it a little longer before passing one along that you might regret later .

Thanks for listening and before I end this I would like to say that I hope all my American friends had a great Thanksgiving .

I've been in a similar situation. It will get better and you will eventually get your grail back. This time last year, I had amassed some 30-35 busse & kin knives when I got very sick and spent much of my time in and out of the hospital. I have decent insurance, but I still had a lot of bills as a result and at the time I was being underpaid for the work that I was doing. I had to sell off a bunch of my knives, including some of my favorites. I am in a much better job now where I am being paid well and am doing what I love. I am also doing much better health wise. I never wanted to be a collector, so now I have 16 busse & kin blades, all of which were hand picked by me and most of which are users.

Best of luck getting back on your feet. The perfect Scrapper 6 is out there waiting for you, my friend.

My Rat Mastiff had to go one day. It was my grail. It was sad. I got over it. These are only things. The more we possess, the more our things possess us. THAT is a truth I am learning

The two you still have will do all you need and more as you must have figured out subconsciously by letting the others go.

Money, things, people and time all come and go... sadly only 2 of the 4 can ever be obtained again in this life.

I traded away my first wife for a newer upgraded model. Best decision I've ever made.

They say it is better to have loved than ...something, something. Oh heck, maybe that love will come back someday. In the mean time go chop something... it will make you feel better on all fronts

Thanks for the kind words , the funny words and the good advice everyone . Life does have it's ups and downs , I know this first hand . So there will be a more up side one day . I just need to make some adjustments to my new reality .

AZMTHotDog you're right , I have made out fine with the Dogfather and the little Bear Cub . Just find the DF a bit much to carry around on a day in the woods . Luckely for me my grail isn't a $1000 Busse and the Scrapper 6 can be had for much less than the $450 and $500 price of a good 6" Busse . So I WILL own a Scrapper 6 again . It might take 6 months to find one or I might find it tomorrow .

Now I think I'll just set on the porch here with my fellow dogs for a while and know I'm in good company .

Hopefully things will be looking up for you when the 611 becomes available. Perhaps it could fill that mid size void for you.

Ohhhhhh yaaaaaaaa, so very true wise tree rat. I am facing this issue right now. I have two very hard to repalce firearms that I'm thinking of selling to help off set the cost of optics and a differnt rifle.

I sold my Dogfather and regretted it a few days later. As soon as one popped up on the exchange, I jumped on it. Now all is right with the universe. Good luck finding the knife your missing. One will turn up sooner or later.
