My second oldest and I got our 6.8 uppers 80% finished. All that's left is to tighten the barrel nut, gas block, and muzzle device, and secure the handguard. We built the lowers earlier in the spring.

From there, I only need to tighten the muzzle device on my 458 and build...my 450; my 20" 223 Wylde; my 16", 18", 20" 24" Grendels; my son's 20" Grendel; a 20" Grendel for a friend; and work with my daughters on their 16" Grendel and 6.8 respectively.

I have a lot of building ahead of me...

I think I still need 2 or 3 handguards, so I will have SOME respite...my daughters aren't yet old enough to start their builds (another 4 years) so I can hold off on one of my builds until then to build with them...missing a few Grendel BCGs as well, so no hurry on those (ok, I already HAVE a Grendel...but one seemed insufficient...it looked lonely. Besides, they hunt better in packs, or so I hear...).

I started off with just one AR. Figured I'd need that to complete my arsenal of freedom before they became illegal. Then I discovered building. What happened????

Toolcraft BCGs are made about 20 min from here. I have picked up a couple from there and had good luck so far.

Toolcraft BCGs are very good. I'd prefer a Colt BCG, but TC isn't far behind.

I'm debating using one of my stripped lowers to build out a pistol. I've pretty well decided on a 10.5 inch upper, but the rest is up in the air. Any ideas on what do do? Brace, blade or just foam covered tube? And what kind of sights work best on AR pistols?

Ive only built one so far. It is a .300 Blackout. Just a range toy. I just used the bare tube and a Primary Arms red dot. Works well.

I have built one pistol. I use a foam covered pistol buffer tube. With the flip flopping ATF has been doing a brace isn't worth the hassle.

With my pending move to Grizzly country I think I am going to pick up a Glock G-40 MOS for a woods pistol. Not ideal but it can always be on me as opposed to a long gun. More of a backup for riding and hiking.
