That's a nice grind job to make a huge fighter (I would have kept the thumb ramp myself to give a definate transition from edge to handle, but each to their own). Would anyone really use a knife that big in a melee, over a 7" dagger or bowie?
I think If I were to modify (I have no plans to I will just wait for a fighter to be releasd <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crossfingers.gif" alt="" />) I would only sharpen about 3" of the point.
Size wise the DF is perfect base for a fighter. It's personality is more like a St. Bernard rather than a border collie much like viking swords.
