You seem like your really itching for a scrapweiler of these pit.

I never saw the point in larger knives that I couldn't carry when hiking but then I realised that I use my MOD4 ( 7"ish blade ) more than any of my other knives as I keep it by my wood stove for splitting kindling and making fuzz sticks !
And this year I'm planning on getting more camping in as well so a knife like a ScrapWeiler would be perfect !!!

7.5" seems like a perfect camp size, big enough for the tough stuff yet still manageable for everything else.
