This thread reminds me of those comments from AR15 owners on ARFCOM that complain about the upper and lower receivers colors not matching on their rifles.
If that's what you're concerned about - perhaps you should collect something else.
Scrap Yard knives are like Bravo Company AR15s - I'd stake my life and my wife's life on one....but it looks sloppy and the fit is a little sloppy.....but it works and works and works and works....and is backed by the industry's best warranty.
Guess I'm missing the point from the "Fit and Finish" crowd.
I guess it all depends on what you are doing with the knives.Practicing a lot of traps and such like I find even the crinklcoat makes a difference to how my knives perform making notches etc. Once I removed the crinklcoat my SRKW M6 immediately cut better.
With this in mind I'm sure deep grind marks would make a similar difference.
Removing the crinklcoat I don't mind, sharpening I don't mind but man it would take me forever to smooth out those grind lines by hand !!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />
