does the weight of a blade actually matter? What scenario would dictate picking the lightest blade possible. Does the few oz. really determine if I am going to pack a certain knife or does mission dictate the blade?
The reason I asked is I know that the Rec-C weighs less than Micarta, and I wanted to know by how much. Sometimes I take walks in the country where I live, and so far the longest I've gone is 6 miles. If I'm that far from home, I like to have a good sized knife just in case I need it. The most likely reason I would need it would be for defense against a dog or something. I'm probably not going to be building an emergency shelter or anything. It will probably never leave the sheath. But I wanted to know how many ounces that would save over the M6. Not much, but if it's something you probably won't even use, it's better to pick the lighter option.
