I picked my rifle up from Vanden Berg today. Beautiful work, and I couldn't have asked for a better customer experience. Ed is very professional and was very polite and courteous.

Pics later.

I've been telling myself I need to sell the SAR48, but I just can't bring myself to do it.

As much as I love the SCAR-17 (and it is a better weapon - overall), I simply cannot shake the feeling that this FAL will be around for a couple of generations longer than the largely plastic and aluminum SCAR.

I'm interested in seeing it, and a description of the work completed.

That's a beautiful rifle, Gary. I wouldn't to sell it either!

Really, all Ed did was cut the barrel to 18 inches, crown, thread, and install one of his custom muzzle brakes. The mb just looks like one of your standard run-of-the-mill muzzle brakes, but I am happy to support him.

Why did you go with a brake as opposed to a flash suppressor?

I was considering both, but I figured follow-up shots were more important to me than flash supression. If I change my mind later then I will just get a Vortex fs.

Here's a very short video the local swat team posted featuring one of his mb's.

That is an amazingly effective brake.

The brakes on my SCAR rifles make them unbearably loud, but are also incredibly effective. The muzzle of the Scar Light actually dips DOWN slightly upon firing.

The most effective brake I've used is the AK-74 style. I, extensively, tested a SLR-106FR with one mounted and the rifle felt like a Ruger 10/22. INSTANT follow up shots were easily obtained.
