I can't wait. Hopefully he gives it to us straight, without worrying about hurting any feelings. I might end up with a new knife at the end of this. WIN!

I'm still waiting on one loaner and one I bought. My schedule has been awful. My second in command (at my firm) left on medical leave so I've absorbed his work. Leaving at 5:45am and getting home at 7:45pm.

I'll begin as soon as I have all the knives, and I'm not holding anything back. This is going to be a huge undertaking so to reap the max benefit my report is going to be short and to the point!

Folks, some will like the eval and some won't. The MAIN point, to me, is that it is unbiased and not embellished with a lot of "Flowery" words. Hard, Fast and accurate. You can't argue with the truth. You may not like it, but the truth IS the truth. In the words of "Mr. Anderson", Bring it!

Another Skunk ramble. Hope you're prepared.

First off I was intrigued by the meaner (leaner) street. What lines, the way the handle undulated and transitioned into that slender pointy blade. But alas, it was not to be. Some non knife things were required.

THEN I was much (and still am) taken by the Sarsquatch. IF the one I had spotted would have still been up for sale it would have been mine. But it too was not to be, and possibly for the good. I have more 7 inch range blades than I really need and for me at least the best one is the 711 strapped to my day pack. It was a gift. (Thanks DOG)!

Then I started reading more about the SAR 5. Hey that is a pretty good piece of steel and IT'S AFFORDABLE! BUT is it REALLY what I want? I mean I already have the S5, 411 and the Mud Mutt. Nah, they will work for me, specially the S5.

Then for the last 6 hours of this shift I have literally been looking at two knives. The Meaner Street (again) and the Boss Street! (Actually I would like an SCABS) I watched several videos and utterly destroyed a ream of paper making lists (Hopefully realistic ones) of what I would use a knife like this for.

Even thou the Meaner Street Has stolen my heart with it' sultry lines, the pointy blade I am afraid may be TO pointy for me, I tend to abuse my blades because it's all I have at hand. I watched a video of a guy who stabbed a BS into a log a good half an inch or more and then levered it out sideways! Don't know if the Meaner could handle this with that tip or not.

So after reading more reviews, and watching more videos I have settled on..... the Boss Street! With it's 4.25 inch blade, it is within the realm of what I originally "Designed" for a wilderness blade. The defining moment for me was a couple short 4 minute jobs where one guy did nothing more than cut rope, paper, plastic rope and zip ties and another where a guy just delimbed a branch to make hot dog roasting sticks and batoned through a couple 2- 2.5 inch sticks of wood. Will I regret my decision, maybe, but only by having it in hand and using it will I truly know.

SO now I just need to decide which version/color I am going to get.

I posted a question around the point of the leaner\meaner Randy and folks thought it was good to go. I bet the regular meaner is plenty tough...I know the SS4 tip was up for anything.

Thanks Rich. But I have been considering some other aspects and I think the Boss Street will be the best for me. For one thing the pommel will allow for pounding it into something and also for cracking open things. (Like my head when Patty finds out what I've done)! wink

Too bad she's so knowledgable...I've retreated to the position of "all of my knives cost about $50 each." wink

I received this one today. 5 1/2 inch blade, 3/16 inch thick, curly maple scales, 52100 blade steel. $165 for a hand forged knife with hand made leather sheath.

Gary, if I would've had this in time I would've sent it to you for your evaluation.
