ON Face Book. smile

Actually JJ is in Thailand and found this. I had said something to him and he said he bought 2 and I could buy one from him. I said COOL! I like Indigenous blades. A lot of times you would think they are cheap. They may be using our standards, but you would be surprised how much, how well these "Cheap" blades will work. AND how well!

Actually a lot of "Knife" folks would not believe how well a knife that size, shaped like that will work for a multitude of tasks. For instance, that belly would work well for hollowing out a piece of wood for a bowl or a spoon. It would also work well for a skinning knife and also splitting wood (depending on the blades thickness). I have a "Frontier" knife made from the spring portion of a trap. it is not much more than 1/16 inch thick and 4 inches long and VERY soft, but works well but yeah it doesn't hold an edge all that long, but on the up side, it sharpens easily.

All the Royal Thai Marines are carrying identical knives. I saw the one a recon Thai had and he showed me where to find that one.

Don't know Rich. It's still in Thailand along with JJ. No matter what length, it's a BAD looking piece! smile

I just got an interpreter assigned to me. First question I asked is the translation of the maker's mark on the blade. It says Aranyik. Read this for not background. It is not made from scrap as I originally expected. It is iron not steel.http://ilwc.aru.ac.th/Contents/ArtCraftEng/ArtCraftEng2.him
