S5 was my first Busse/kin and it is still my favorite Dog. Adam's 511MO was a real pleasure to use. I need to convex mine, but I'm happy to have an international MO (came out of Canada).

S5's have not been the best performers (for me) but I still think it's a great design. They have all needed a lot of edge work.

It's SR101. I've had one or two INFI S5. Didn't see the need for the "improved" alloy. My INFI cut off is 6".

Under 6" = SR101
Over 6" = INFI preferred / SR101 accepted

INFI is great for big knives, but is lost on small knives (IMHO). More testing needs to be conducted.

Personally I like INFI, in ALL lengths (well maybe not 3 inches and under). I would rather have the ease of sharpening than extreme edge holding. I have been "OUT" more than once and needed to sharpen an edge. Good rocks are hard to find but a lot of them should work for INFI.

I think that we have completely derailed Spidy's thread. Oh well, everyone is curious about a train wreck. wink

Maybe I've been lucky, but I've never had to sharpen SR101 in the field. I took a Regulator on a 7 day camping trip and batoned every single piece of firewood we burned with it. On day seven it would still cut curls off of DAMP paper!

I'm fortunate in my ability to put a keen edge on 101 with a whetstone.

Spider Pig,
Spider Pig,
Sorry we crapped up your thread.

Spider Pig now returns you to his normally scheduled program.

Neither have I, but I DO know "If it can go wrong it will", at the MOST inopportune time.
