I have this problem, I buy ammo in bulk, shoot a small percent, and buy again... always thinking I am out... whenever i see a sale, I load up...
I did an inventory a few years back, and I was at some 17K rounds of various (.22lr up through .308 and all inbetween, us .223 and rusky 7.62x39)....
And for some reason, I do the same with canned tuna/salmon/spam, and beef jerky.
I figure any zombies come my way I can hold out for quite some time...
I don't quite have the water resorces set... but living in las vegas now... I should think about it...

ah, PoP, the only cheese a zombie is interested in is head cheese. other than zombies, I'm really not sure who eats that junk. one of my ex-gfs used to work in a deli, and talked about the time she was slicing some for a customer and the blade on the slicer hit a tooth that was in the "meat" and sent it sailing across the room. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" />

It had 9 or 10 rifles(mostly bolt action hunting rifles, one semi auto), a couple handguns, and 500 rounds of ammo. The news reporter made it sound like they had discovered a nuke in the storage facility and they were appalled at all the firepower amassed in one location. All the time I'm thinking the guy was way under gunned. To be fair, he was a known gang member and should not have had any guns, but they were more outraged by the number than the fact he shouldn't have any to begin with.

My dad fed me head cheese for years before I found out what it was.
I got him back though ,he said" I don't care how you do it but I want all the ice off the driveway". It was -40 and very thick. When he came back there was a couple fire trucks because I had covered it with gas and set it on fire to get the ice off. I did not even get in trouble because he was the kind of guy who appreciated thinking outside the box and I had kept my side of the deal.

I though I was in pretty good shape, then my back went out again.
Curently, I can barely walk upright.
Sitting it out is my only option.
I just started getting that prepackaged ready-to-go bumblebee tuna, salmon, and chicken you guys turned me onto. Survival in style.

I've got enough firepower to keep my land zombie free for some time. Throw in a generator, lots of rice and beans, access to fresh water and enough land to be able to live off what I farm and the world go to hell in a hand basket.

you're still gonna need reloads, jerry. assuming sixty-percent of the world's population gets zombified, and that's a conservative estimate, even if you get a headshot every time, just with the population of north america, you'd need around 500,000,000 rounds of ammo.

It's all about terrain. To my north is a big alligator infest swamp, the Okeefenokee. I figure that the little dinosaurs are good for a few Zombies.
To my west and south sits Osceola National forest with many sections impassable or difficult to pass through. In addition I'm well away from main routes of travel. And on top of that I'm surrounded by plenty of Rednecks. They'll thin the ranks before a zombie ever reaches me.
Heck, I may never need to pull the trigger. But if I do I've got ammo a plenty.

I bought a copy of "The Zombie Survival Guide" by Max Brooks this afternoon. I'll have to read through it and get back to you. It's a good book. It's my coffee table book (I kid you not) in the Man Cave at Casa De Jerrwhy. He wrote a sequel called World War Z. That was a great book as well. I listened to it on audio book. There were some pretty famous actors doing the voices e.g., Alan Alda, Mark Hamil, and a few others. I just finished watching "Planet Terror" by Quentin Tarentino. It was a pretty hilarious film. It was done like a 60's B movie. Very Entertaining. However, I don't recommend Death Proof.
