The cops didn't mind, Momaw. He encouraged it.
I live in a place where violence is everywhere. Bodies are found every once in a while and everyone is packing. During holidays and parties people fire automatics into the air. I live in southern California. We have gangs, la M (Mexican Mafia), economical issues and drug problems that lead to a lot of theft. Which is why the cop showed up to begin with. I called him. He saw my AR and said I should probably keep it in a safe, because someone who knows I have it may try to steal it. He suggested I buy a shotgun and keep it loaded by the door, because they are cheaper and deadlier. True story. Immediate danger is a possibility here.

Sorry. I can see the sense of keeping a defense piece loaded and waiting, but to just leave loaded weapons laying around when you have no immediate or forseeable need for them...

My bad, it is a defense piece that is loaded and waiting. Ha, I'm guessing you're picturing a bigger place than I actually live in. One bedroom, one bath and no kitchen. Maybe 400 square feet. Everything is within reach.

i lost faith in the police after they told my parents they did not go to our house on a burglary call since it was a neighbor that phoned them and not the resident (us). we lost almost everything....luckily are neighbors yelled they were calling the police. and they fled.

My Zanotti safe should be completed this month. Then, I will have a place to put the long guns, knives and carry pistols that aren't in use.

It was a 6-month wait for the safe. They got slammed just like ammo and ARs.

Haha, yeah, alright. I was envisioning that you had a pistol on the table as part of your place setting, another one on the coffee table, at least two rifles leaning in corners...
