Funny I am wearing my Merril hiking low top shoe/boots light weight and oh so comphy, Just got em last week at REI buck 10 ouch but still cheaper than the danners.
But anothe rnote on the Danners is that they are more of a summer boot but they work just fine for me in the winter unless it gets 10 below zero, LOVE em! [img][image]http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u10/stansbrew/PC070045.jpg[/img][/image]

I wonder what HD and Pits wear. Those guys seem to live outdoors.

Yeah your right bro, I do kinda clock some dirt miles up !!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

My current boots are Mendl Burma's, heavyweight leather outers with a Goretex inner....nice boots but pretty heavy after my last pair which were a fabric pair of Karrimors !!!!

My feet are in bad shape, too much weight to carry and too many miles. I can't wear combat boots anymore. I were Cabela's light hikers or Wolverine boots.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I like to wear Moc's as much as I can, I like to feel the ground under my feet. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

If it's real cold, I've got some Muk-Luks that are real comfy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Muk-Luks <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />........I didn't think anybody remembered those...let alone owns a pair.

Those bring back some memories......

I like the idea of moc's. I can picture myself sneaking around the forest stalking the white man. But then, invariably, I step on a stone and go back to something with a real sole.

My mocs are double-soled, so no piercing problems.
I have been thinking of getting a sheepskin lined pair for the winter. Arrow also makes muk-luks. Would be good winter woods boots.

Dan, if I recall correctly, the Danner Ft Lewis boots are made in the USA and are the top of the Danner line.

My dad got them for me back when I joined the Army - they were about $300 then, as I recall.

They are GREAT though. I wore them all winter near the DMZ in Korea and had nice warm feet! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

for me it depends on the temps.im not to picky in the summer.i have a nice pair of u.s.g.i. type ROCKY GORE-TEX....good stuff.

for the winters worst......while i know they're heavy as hell, the u.s.g.i mickey mouse boots are the most hard core ive found...but i also havnt really looked.

what do you guys think of the MICKEYS???
