That's a nice Case Bruce! I find a clip point to be a great all around blade shape. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

i bet res c is tough to remove, too.

that would be one kickass folder. double cut. maybe i will get that knife after all.

Nah, you just have to drill out the tube fastener in the lanyard hole, then hold the blade with a padded vise, and pull the handle off.

that was frustrating. took forever to get the thing to scan properly and when it was up, i realized the ball was too close to the pivot. moved it back toward the pommel. has to be a large ball bearing as the blade's pretty thick. now all we need is for dan to make it.

Very very well drawn. Only thing is, what happens when it closes?

It was quite ingenious of you to use the talon whole as a pivot point. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

But because the pivot point is set low on the knife, wouldn't it be angled when it is closed? Also, wouldn't the ball lock be useless when the knife is closed? Because you did this the handles would also have to angled. Opened, the knife would have the curve of a nessmuk.

The handle seem like a good size.

Nontheless, This would be one awesome folder.

Personally, I think this should either be in a frame lock or lock back. Axis, ball, arc, and other locks seem a little too complex.

Mag you are a hero, that is amazing look at that masterpeice. I like it

What about this idea for a lock seeing that it is already "in the family."

i used the dallara as a model. imagine a vertical line down the center of the pivot. when the ball remains behind this line with the knife open, it blocks the tang and prevents the knife from closing. when the ball is there in the closed position, it lands in the choil of the blade, keeping it closed. i'm not quite sure what you mean by "angled" but maybe you mean something like the poliwog? if so, yes. there's a lot of blade outside of the grips in the closed position on the dallara too because of the massive spyder hole. i think the 110 style nail nick or a thumb stud/ridge would prevent that. i left that detail off having not made up my mind. ball lock action is so smooth you barely need anything for your thumb to grab.

wouldn't mind just making it a massive framelock either, with the guard acting like a flipper.

I like the DM folder idea. Thing is, making folders requires some precision machining and is very different from making fixed blades. I like my Rat Trap a lot, but even Busse let somebody else make it. Kershaw, Spyderco, Benchmade, and many others are very good at making folding knives. I'll put my Skirmish up against just about any other folder for rugged construction, but it could never match a YK or a HRLM for toughness, and neither could any folder. I just don't know if Busse could be competitive in the folder market unless they contracted it to a manufacturer that specializes in folders.

i was thinking that, hd. spyderco makes the ball lock. probably wouldn't make it in sr77, which kinda defeats the point.

now if dan and jerry could just make the blades and spyderco handled the rest, that would rock. that ball lock is rock solid. there's nowhere for anything to go unless you have the intention to make it so.
